Who We Are

​

The SPE Student Chapter at the University of Aberdeen is more than just a student society we are your direct connection to the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the world’s largest community dedicated to the oil, gas, and energy industry.

Our role is to introduce students to the industry and guide them toward the wealth of opportunities SPE offers. From technical lectures, international competitions, and networking events to publishing papers, pursuing chartership, and applying for scholarships through SPE International, we make sure our members are well informed and well prepared to take full advantage of what SPE has to offer.

We serve as the link between students and SPE International ensuring our members are aware of the many opportunities available. From technical talks and career workshops to global competitions and publishing platforms, we help students navigate and make the most of what SPE provides.

Most importantly, we are open to all students, no matter your academic background. If you’re curious about the oil, gas, and wider energy industry from traditional resources to the evolving energy transition you are welcome here.
